The scientists within the Innovation Center look forward to "next generation" products with technology based solutions. We have a team of people who are acknowledged as industry experts. With the resources of our parent company, CSM, we are able to conduct primary research to continually expand our knowledge in the Bakery and Emulsifier fields. The Research and Development area allows for synergy between Innovation, Product Development and Analytical Services.
Bakery Innovation Center
Our Bakery Innovation Center looks at all aspects of the industry from flour milling through to finished products. They partner with our business development and marketing departments to develop technologies and solutions which can increase throughput; make safer, more stable products or introduce an entirely new concept to an industrial bakery's existing product line. Our scientists are both skilled bakers and well trained food research scientists who are able to conduct various bake tests and then analyze the test results using modern, state of the art equipment.
Emulsifier Innovation Center
Caravan Ingredients is a manufacturer of widely used emulsifiers for the food industry. Our Emulsifier Innovation Center is staffed with scientists who have an in-depth knowledge of lipid chemistry and food applications. The center is equipped with state of the art equipment for characterizing the chemical and physical attributes of lipids and the interactions of such in food systems such as bench top NMR, FTIR, Microwatt calorimeter, Differential scanning calorimeter, GC/headspace/Mass Spec and HPLC. This enables us to make technical solutions available to the industry. As an example, we have developed approaches for fat structuring of nutritional superior oils which in turn leads to zero grams trans fat and reduced saturated fat solutions.
